Numbers we can defend.
Every figure on this page is counted from the catalogue, not entered by hand. Each one carries the rule used to count it. Where something cannot be counted, it is absent rather than estimated.
Counted from live catalogue data on 11 September 2026. These are not survey results or projections; each figure is a query anyone with access to the database can re-run. The counting rule for each is below.
- Creators engaged Artists with a published profile.
- Works brought to market Works published in the catalogue.
- Paid to creators The sum of creator prices actually settled after a sale. Money not yet paid is not counted.
- Artisan partner workshops Artists working as artisan partners.
- Communities represented Distinct locations across all published artists.
- Works through the Grid Published works marked as having come to market through the Grid.
What is deliberately not here
Projects delivered, exhibitions held and the number of people reached are all figures AARTY could estimate. None of them can currently be counted from a record, so none of them appear. Publishing no figure is better than publishing one that cannot be defended — and a single unverifiable number on this page would put every other number on it in doubt.
“Paid to creators” counts only money that has actually reached an artist: consignments where the work sold and the creator was settled. Work sitting in the gallery unsold is not counted, because nobody has been paid for it yet.
